Introduction - NomadicAviator (Star Citizen)

Good evening, everyone! NomadicAviator, callsign SPAR6, or Josh (IRL). I found this through a mention of an Org mate. Smacked the ‘buy’ button, and I’m excited to play around with it.

A little about me: I’m an active duty Black Hawk Instructor Pilot, and fly other fixed and rotary-wing aircraft—along with sUAS and UAV.

Outside of that, I’m can be found Sunday nights on Twitch, or out on the ‘Gulf in my Hobie working my way up the food chain until I get something I don’t want on the end of my rod.

I’m excited to give this thing a whirl! I’ve got a fair amount of aviation counterparts that are eager to hear how it performs.

Oh, does TACCOM have a Discord?

Hey Josh! It’s nice to meet you! I also play Star Citizen (On Linux!). You’re not the first active/retired military player. But certainly the first to introduce yourself. We’re thinking about a Discord server, but haven’t had the time to invest in one (Their partner program is shuttered).

Happy to have more SC players. Consider sharing your Org, I’m not in one but it’s on the todo. Currently playing with the Golem and have my eyes set on the C1 Spirit.

Good deal! Linux, eh? I bet that was a few extra steps, but I’m interested in how you did it!

If you’re interested in a home, I’ve been in Armored Expeditions (ArmorEx/AEX) for almost 10 years—great group of guys. We play regularly, have regular events throughout the month (to include mining events), and we’re not a “mega” Org. We’re actually invested in knowing oneanother. To that point, a lot of us are meeting up for “AEXCON,” seeing as CITCON is Digital this year.

For the Discord route, let me know if your need any help with it. I’m NomadicAviator in Discord and on Twitch. I manage the Star Citizen (US Military) Discord, Nomadic Network, and help with the Org’s as well. All of that is to say, I’m familiar with the processes, bots, and details of Discord.

I’m excited to play with the TACCOM in the SimPit—just need to figure out where I want to mount it. I’m waiting for it to come in so I can start designing a mount for it in Blender to 3D print. :united_states:

WOAH! That’s a sweet setup! I really like the center button box! I considered making a dedicated button box just for mining in Star Citizen. Something with a mini throttle that controls laser power.

For Linux, it was insanely simple, just installed via Lutris. No need for anything else, it just works: https://lutris.net

TACCOM: I wear it on my shirt. Similar to how you’d have it on a tactical vest. But heck man, let us know what you work up!

I took a look at ArmoredExpeditions. I really like the onboarding process. I’m going to take a more detailed look.
